TOWN OF HUME
OCTOBER 3, 2007
A special meeting of the Hume Town Board, Allegany County, New York was convened at 7:00 PM on October 3, 2007 at the Town of Hume Museum, 10842 Claybed Road, hamlet of Hume. The meeting was called to consider the 2008 Preliminary Budget.
Officials in attendance were Supervisor Craig Smith; Council members Bryce Bower, Robert Beil and Dennis Ricketts; Clerk Sondra MacEwan. Daniel Miller, candidate for the Board, was also present.
Supervisor Smith opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. He then stated that the changes to the Budget that were agreed upon during work sessions had been incorporated into the draft of the 2008 Preliminary Budget that was filed with the Town Clerk and given to Board members.
There was some discussion on highway department issues, including paving schedules and the efficient mobilization of equipment. A tractor-trailer rig that parked on Liberty Street was mentioned; the complaint was turned over to the State Police.
Supervisor Smith’s calculations from the Preliminary Budget show a slight decrease in tax rates for 2008.
Councilman Robert Beil moved that the 2008 Preliminary Budget be adopted as presented, and Councilman Dennis Ricketts seconded the motion. 4 ayes, 0 noes.
Supervisor Smith moved that a Public Hearing to hear public comments on the 2008 Preliminary Budget be held on October 15, 2007 at 7:30 PM. Councilman Beil seconded. 4 ayes, 0 noes.
Councilman Beil moved that the Town of Hume official Trick-or-Treat hours be set, as in prior years, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Halloween night (October 31, 2007). Supervisor Smith seconded. 4 ayes, no noes.
Supervisor Smith attended a meeting of the Code Enforcement Consortium in Rushford on October 2, 2007. He presented copies of a proposed agreement to Board members for their deliberation. This proposal will be discussed at the next regular meeting of the Board.
Councilman Beil moved that the meeting be adjourned, and Councilman Ricketts seconded. 4 ayes, 0 noes. Meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM.
