TOWN OF HUME
OCTOBER 28, 2008
A regular meeting of the Hume Town Board, Allegany County, New York was held at the Town of Hume Museum, 10842 Claybed Road, Hume, New York on October 28, 2008. Supervisor Craig E. Smith opened the meeting at 7:00 PM by leading the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Officials in attendance: Craig Smith, Supervisor: Council members Dennis Ricketts, Bryce Bower, Daniel Miller and Robert Beil; and Clerk Sondra MacEwan.
Councilman Beil moved that the minutes of the October 8, 2008 meeting of the Hume Town Board be accepted as presented, and Councilman Ricketts seconded the motion.
5 ayes, 0 noes.
At 7:05 PM, Supervisor Smith opened the Public Hearing on the proposed 2009 Town Budget. No residents were present at that time; therefore, the hearing was held open while other business was discussed.
At 7:35 PM, Councilman Beil moved that the Public Hearing be closed. Councilman Miller seconded. 5 ayes, 0 noes.
Councilman Miller moved that the Town of Hume Budget for 2009 be adopted as presented, and Councilman Ricketts seconded. 5 ayes, 0 noes. Budget adopted.
Supervisor Smith explained that a grant application opportunity has been announced. This grant is an award for community planning and requires a 40% funding match. Applications are due by November 21, 2008.
The Board discussed the availability of funds, the need for a comprehensive plan, and the areas that might be addressed by a comprehensive plan.
Councilman Miller moved that the Town of Hume apply for the Community Planning grant funded by the New York State Housing Trust Corporation Office of Community Renewal, and that the Town hold Public Hearings on the matter. Councilman Bower seconded the motion. 5 ayes, 0 noes.
To meet one of the first requirements for this application, the Board set the following dates for Public Hearings on the grant opportunity and input into the planning process:
Wednesday, November 12, 2008 7:30 PM at the Museum
Thursday, November 13, 2008 7:30 PM at the Museum.
Councilman Ricketts moved that the meeting be adjourned; Councilman Miller seconded the motion. 5 ayes, 0 noes. Meeting adjourned at 7:37 PM.
The next regular meeting of the Hume Town Board will be November 12, 2008 at 7:00 PM at the Town of Hume Museum in the hamlet of Hume.
